Krishna Biltoo Joins IDEAcarbon: Former S&P Managing Director Takes New Role in Global Carbon Rating and Analytics Firm

In 2010, Krishna Biltoo made a significant career move after more than six years of leadership at Standard & Poor’s Fixed Income Solutions business. Biltoo embarked on a new professional journey, taking up the position of joint CEO at IDEAcarbon, a startup established in 2007.  IDEAcarbon had a clear mission: to provide the emerging carbon trading market with impartial analysis and ratings. It also owns the Carbon Rating Agency, a project launched in 2008 aimed at establishing a global standard for assessing carbon risk.
At IDEAcarbon, Biltoo assumed the role of CEO of IDEAcarbon Markets and also held the title of executive vice president of IDEAcarbon Group. His extensive experience in credit market analysis and risk management was expected to greatly contribute to the further development of IDEAcarbon’s data business.
IDEAcarbon’s endeavours in the field of carbon finance ratings, research, and analytical solutions were integral to its vision of supporting the growth of the carbon trading market. With Biltoo’s leadership, the company aimed to become a trusted and independent source of analysis and ratings for this nascent market, as well as a key player in setting global standards for carbon risk assessment.
Biltoo’s move to IDEAcarbon marked a significant turning point in his career, as he transitioned from his previous role as the managing director and head of Fixed Income Solutions at S&P. During his tenure at S&P, he had played a crucial role in driving a fourfold expansion of the business in the EMEA region between 2003 and 2010. Prior to his time at S&P, he had held various positions, including the head of Information Services at CreditTrade and an extensive 22-year career at Reuters, where he led teams in the credit and risk space and served in various roles related to FX, money, and credit markets. He had also served as a non-executive director of the RiskMetrics Group in a previous capacity.
